Dr. Merchant, MD, DM (Cardiology), DNB (Cardiology), FSCAI (USA), FESC (France), completed his MD, DM and DNB in Cardiology at Seth G. S. Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai University, graduating as a gold medallist. He went on to train in interventional cardiology under Prof. Alain Cribier, the pioneer of TAVR, at Charles Nicolle Hospital, University of Rouen, France, and under Prof. Igor F. Palacios at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, USA.
Over the last eight years, his clinical focus has shifted almost entirely toward the comprehensive management of advanced and complex heart failure. That includes AI-driven algorithms for heart failure prediction, remote patient monitoring through IoT-enabled devices, and a smart app that pushes real-time alerts to a clinical dashboard. He has partnered with world-renowned transplant surgeon Dr. K. R. Balakrishnan to build an international mechanical circulatory support (MCS), LVAD and heart-and-lung transplantation program, run out of AHF Clinic in Bandra West, Mumbai.
