EngageLive is committed to making its platform accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We are working toward full conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Conformance Status

EngageLive is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partial conformance means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the standard. Known issues are listed below.

Known Accessibility Issues

1. Drag-and-drop activities (Ranking, Match the Following, Hotspot): These activities rely on mouse drag-and-drop interactions that are not currently keyboard accessible. Keyboard-accessible alternatives are planned for Q3 2026.
2. Word Cloud animation: The live word cloud animation does not respect prefers-reduced-motion. This will be fixed in the next release.
3. Leaderboard updates: Real-time leaderboard score changes are not currently announced to screen readers. An ARIA live region will be added.
4. Some icon buttons in the host toolbar (Stats, PDF, Templates) lack explicit aria-label attributes. These will be added in the next release.
5. Focus management in modals: When overlay dialogs open, focus is not always moved to the dialog. This is being corrected.

Technologies Used

EngageLive is built with HTML5, CSS3, and vanilla JavaScript. No accessibility-hostile frameworks are used. The application relies on standard browser APIs for accessibility support (ARIA, role attributes, semantic HTML).

Assistive Technologies Tested

• NVDA with Chrome (Windows) — basic session flow
• VoiceOver with Safari (macOS/iOS) — basic session flow
• Keyboard-only navigation (Chrome, Firefox) — main interface

Roadmap

We are actively working to improve accessibility. Planned improvements:

• Q3 2026: Keyboard-accessible alternatives for drag-and-drop activities, ARIA live regions for real-time updates
• Q4 2026: Full WCAG 2.1 AA audit by external accessibility specialist
